Authentic rice planting ceremony under the Mt.Fuji

Hi everyone!
It’s already the season of rice planting. We will be going to Fuji Asoyamadai Jingu, a breathtakingly beautiful and spiritual place located just at the foot of Mt Fuji. This year, you can experience an authentic Shinto ritual rice planting ceremony.

After the rice planting ceremony, we will participate in planting as well but what makes this time’s experience unique is that instead of the usual rice, we will be planting “Makomo(*)", holy rice. Even if you’ve done rice planting before, we’re sure you will see a new aspect to it.

In addition, this year, as the special guest, the Ambassador of Togo to Japan will join this 300+ people grand festival. Not only will you be part of the Shinto ritual, you will also have the opportunity to meet many people.

Of course in autumn, after the harvesting, we will share the Makomo we planted so you can enjoy the delicious rice!

(*)Makomo : A plant known to exist from 300 million years ago and hence said to be ”A plant whose evolution has stopped”. It has been mentioned in Japan’s oldest chronicle “Kojiki”, “Nihon Shoki”, “Manyoshu”. Also it’s utilized in Shinto rituals in many shrines across Japan, including Izumo Taisha since it is thought as gods resides in Makomo. It is also used in tea, Chinese cuisine, and a luxurious ingredient in tempura.
